Tuesday night workshop sketches

DS sketches

Some more 2-5 min. DS sketches! The ones at Disneyland happened during the fires...very eerie sky!

Some more color sketches

Still trying to practice with color... Here are some little (~4"x3") pastel and watercolor sketches done around work. The last one was done at the LA Arboretum and and it was such a cool place to sketch...I want to go back and try again!

Disneyland Sketches

I just got back from a sketching trip to Disneyland! These were about 10-15 min. studies done with a little watercolor set in a moleskin sketchbook.

These were little sketches done on the DS :) The first was in the Blue Bayou and the second in the Grand Californian lobby...

Playing with Pastels

I've been trying out pastels recently, mainly in drawing workshops with controlled lighting. Still trying to figure out colors...

Nintendo DS Doodles

I just got the Colors program for my DS...it's right up there with Mario Kart, only I feel more productive when I use it!

Some outside sketches...

We were lucky enough to have access to the Huntington Gardens to paint this week! Despite the heat, spiders and fast drying gouache, I got a few quick studies done..here's one:


I've also been hitting up the Hollywood Bowl this summer, hearing everything from Loony Tunes'...um tunes, to Phillip Glass. It's been so nice to be outside with good music and a good glass of wine (or two or three :)

Josephine Baker quick sketches

These are from Drawing Club last week...the model was amazing and had great energy. She made me want to capture some of that with quick gesture sketches (she also made me want one of those banana skirts!)
