Art of Princess Book is in!

The new Disney's Art of Princess book is available!

It was pretty amazing to see how each artist (and some very talented DCP friends) interpreted the well-known characters in different styles and media, resulting in some fantastic art pieces. Also, on a more personal level, Disney's Princesses were definitely a big part of my childhood. Besides being a big fan of the movies and music, I think the heroines represented hope of a "Happily Ever After" to my girlfriends and I...whether that meant finding true love, overcoming obstacles, or not being afraid to pursue a dream.
Being a part of this project was definitely a dream come true for me!

Friday Drawing

Kelvin, co-worker extraordinaire, devised a plan to get people out of their cubes and into the drawing mood. Each week they pull 3 random words from a hat and have one week to come up with a concept. Then, Friday morning, the works are pinned up and shared. It's just like school again! This is my first contribution: POLICE, WAR and WATER-Y....um yeah.

VivaLA Art Show

I was very honored to be invited to participate in the VivaLa Art Show this past Saturday. All proceeds went to the Children's Law Center of Los Angeles; and even though I wasn't able to make it, I heard from the organizer Eddie Tsang that they raised over 13,000! Congrats Eddie and thanks for letting me contribute!

Here's my piece (since the charity benefited children, I went with a children's book cover theme (one of my favorites) :

Thanks to Bobby Hundreds for the picture!

Golden Tree

I just finished doing a really fun mural for a friend's clothing boutique opening in South Pasadena! The store is called "The Jane and Joe Shoppe" on 1030 Mission St., and the awesome owner Robin envisioned a gold tree on the wall. She let me just go for it on her pristine white paint, so I give her credit for trusting me...

Pasadena Light and Power Steam Plant

I pass by this place almost everyday, and always wanted to paint it. It's definitely not the easiest place to do a paint sketch, but it was such a nice day to sit and give it a go. The sun was starting to set, and I couldn't seem to work quick enough, but I'll be back to try again...

Disneyland Sketches

I just got back from a sketching trip to Disneyland! These were about 10-15 min. studies done with a little watercolor set in a moleskin sketchbook.

These were little sketches done on the DS :) The first was in the Blue Bayou and the second in the Grand Californian lobby...
